りっする【律する】

〔判断する〕 judge; gauge; measure; 〔統制する〕 govern.

●おのれを律する control [restrain, contain] oneself

・行動を律する control one's action [behavior]

・他人を律する measure [judge] others 《according to one's principles》

・規則をもって人を律する bring sb under a rule; apply a rule to sb.

●親の価値観で子供を律するべきではない. Parents should not measure [judge] their children by their own (sense of) values.
